Seminar in Sri-Lanka for Nepalese Political Leaders

Based on the recommendations made by the participants of the Pokhara Workshop held in January 2003, the NPC hosted a Study Visit and Seminar in Sri Lanka for the Nepalese political parties, on 1-6 May (inclusive) 2003. Senior political leaders from the major political parties participated in the Seminar.

The main objectives of the program were: (1) To expose the participants to conflict transformation approaches to conflict, (2) To enable participants to gain insights from the Sri Lankan experience that may be useful in connection with conflict transformation in Nepal, and (3) To allow participants to discuss the Nepal conflict in informal and more structured settings.

Local facilitator in Sri Lanka and internal consultant Liz Philipson from London School of Economics facilitated the activities in Sri Lanka.
