| Past Programs | Workshop and Seminar on Democratic Constitution Making and State Restructuring
The National Peace Campaign (NPC) organized a series of interactive workshops and seminars on Democratic Constitution-Making. The workshops/seminars were organized under the "Strengthening Capacity of District Level Politicians on Democratic Constitution-Making" project, which was supported by Danida HUGOU. The eight workshops/seminars were organized at different districts of all five development regions of Nepal (for more details, see the table below).
The project was aimed at enhancing capacity of the district level political leaders of Nepal's major political parties on making a democratic constitution. During the workshops the experts on constitution-making process shared their knowledge and information with the district level politicians on different aspects of democratic constitution-making. The interactive and participatory workshops were focused on democratic constitution-making in Nepal, broader principles of new constitution-making, electoral process, systems of representation for the Constituent Assembly, constitutional principles, examples of best practices of a Constituent Assembly from other countries, contents of a new Constitution, political inclusion and public participation in the constitution-making process.
The workshops/seminars also included interactions between senior political leaders of different major political parties and the district level political leaders. The discussions between the senior and district level political leaders were focused on the major challenges to constituent assembly process, concerns arising at the local level about the democratic constitution-making process, issues of inclusivity and participation, and the ways to spreading awareness among the people about the constituent assembly process. Very short detail of the workshops and seminars is as follows:
